OOF! That's no fun at all. Before we moved to this condo, we lived in a house beside a stream. We held our breath during every bad storm. Last night the Baltimore area had a real log-lifter of a thunderboomer and we were without internet for nearly 24 hours. You'd be amazed at how much you can accomplish without the computer to claim your every waking moment. ( Sometimes I wonder which one of us is in charge around here.)
We have had so much flooding (thanks climate change) that we finally had to raise our garage and driveway, remove a door from the ground floor level of our home and raise all the windows. We could have almost built a new house but we would never be allowed to build here any more because of the proximity to a stream which flows under the street next to our corner lot and the size of the conduit that allows the water to flow to the other size. The conduit was built in the early 60s and it's too small. So it was upgrade or lose the house. So many things lost in the flood or just damaged by water and then mildew. And of course now we have drought but it will flood again and now we're ready.

My condolences on having to get the bailing bucket back out/. I live in a river valley and have been flooded badly several times over the years.

ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure our circs 1917 storm drains were a contributing factor.
