I think if I hand-embroidered six plate and six glass doilies (not to mention the centerpieces), I'd sit at the head of the table with a yardstick in one hand to rap the knuckles of anyone who even looked like he was going to spill something.
Me too! So many of the embroidered linens that belonged to my older family members has coffee or tea stains on them.
ReplyDeleteI love looking at the embroidery kits in those magazines. Also the old Home Arts magazines of the early 1900's. I keep wondering where all those transfers went? Didn't anyone archive them? What a loss!
ReplyDeletetotally! I am also really carefull when it comes to my grandmothers old stuff. But then, I also feel, that it would be sad not to use it.. I just try to relax, but damn it is hard if anyone spill on it!
