Modern Needlecraft, Spring 1951. These are adorable...the little gingham sunsuit with the ruffled bonnet, and the pinafore dress in the center that opens out so it can be ironed flat. Monuments to a time when walking to school on a spring morning in a pretty dress that smelled of starch and Ivory Flakes was the best feeling in the world.
Yes but, mother always made me wear a sweater. Mist burning off the fields in the morning sun and dew on the grass. Early butterflies and and bees smelling the blooms. Life was simple and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love these! Almost (note the *almost*) makes me want to be a little girl again. Yes, we always had to have a sweater. lol Thanks.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I use to wear those cute dresses too and they did smell of starch and Ivory soap flakes :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the Shaw reference.
ReplyDeleteI keep throwing them in there in the hopes that someone recognizes them.
