I remember my youth and the feeling that will never come back any more -the feeling that I could last forever, outlast the sea, the earth and all men. ~ Joseph Conrad
Bet they were lovely. (sarcasm intended) I'm not so citified that I haven't used outhouses without doors, or holes in the ground, or a log, or a bush, or a rock - checking for wasp nests, poisonous snakes and spiders, and/or poison oak/ivy first - not to mention watching for bears and other large critters.
In my youth, when I felt I could last forever, outlast the sea, and all that, I had an ambition to go up the Amazon to see the wildlife at first hand. Then my mother mentioned the lack of plumbing.
It's a wonderful photograph,Shay. Hope you are feeling lots better.
Invincible. Then we start falling apart. Hope you are feeling much better.
ReplyDeleteAs to those living conditions - UGH. (I don't mind tent camping when it is warm and dry.)
oh, you should have seen the latrines!

I don't snap back the way I used to, Julie. The pleurisy is still kicking my assets.
ReplyDelete(thanks for asking).
Oh to be 26 again.
