Karen, I was hoping that this was the case, that it was some kind of in-joke. But I looked all over that display and didn't see a little asterisk or smiley face...
I doubt the schools here would think to asterisk FACS... it's one of those jargon-y things that they forget the rest of the world doesn't instantly recognize.
Ah! I see all those food items in the photo, so FACS is in context. Are they are trying to tell us that illiteracy is a disability in the kitchen and supermarket. A moot point if you can actually read the display! But can those kids can make porridge and white sauce without lumps? That's what I learned in Junior High Home Ec.
I choose to believe that's a pun... these days what we called Home Ec is now Family and Consumer Science, or FACS.
ReplyDeleteNot really sure why that class would have anything to do with literacy, though.

ReplyDeleteMaybe they forgot to put it on? Let's hope so!
*weeps for our future*

ReplyDeleteThat is awesome. It would fit right in at the school I saw with the motto "EXCELLING IN EXCELLENCE."
ReplyDeleteShouldn't that be FAQS? That would at least make more sense.
