"Confederate Fruit Cake. Two cupsful each of flour and molasses, one pint of dried
fruit parboiled and fine chopped, one tablespoonful of lard and small
teaspoonful of soda dissolved in half a wineglassful of vinegar."
o.k. 2 cups flour, but 2 cups molasses? that seems like a lot
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's what I thought.
ReplyDeleteSounds more like treacle pudding than cake. The recipes I've seen use about the same amount of flour and molasses or golden syrup.
ReplyDeleteLooks more like a recipe for treacle pudding where the flour and treacle (or golden syrup) amounts are about the same.
ReplyDeleteWhere's the bourbon to wash it down with?
