Quote Of The Day

A man who has never gone to school may steal from a freight car; but if he has a university education, he may steal the whole railroad. ~ Theodore Roosevelt

  1. I was born on International Teddy Bear Day, a mark on the calendar to honor the birth of Teddy Roosevelt, a fellow asthmatic who controlled it with exercise when young and grew into an adult of boundless energy and purpose. He's still right about the railroad.

  2. I don't have much regard for Robert Vaughn as an actor - he always seems to me to be a bit on the smarmy/sleazy side - but back in the 1950's in...was it Cheyenne? Bronco? One of those old westerns that you catch on cable at 2am - he played a young Teddy Roosevelt and he was PERFECT.

  3. Must look out for that. Usually at 2a.m., I'm either knitting something for which I need no interruptions not to much up, or, if it's a weekend, silent movies.

  4. It was "Law Of The Plainsman" which is why I think I must have seen this in California in the mid-80's. One of the local channels ran the series (along with 77 Sunset Strip and Rawhide, I think) as a late-evening filler.
