From The Tatler, Summer 1934. Six and a half days to Calcutta, nine to Cape Town! I would like to see the itineraries for these flights, just for the names of the stopovers.
(For the cheapest flight you're looking at approximately $10,000 in today's dollars).
Back when you dressed to travel and not for comfort. But then the seats were spaced out and comfy.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I draw the line at pajama bottoms in the airport, I do admit that I much prefer traveling in a pair of knit pull on slacks and a nice t-shirt than a tweed suit, stockings and a girdle.
