From the October, 1947 issue of Woman's Day - their monthly column "How To Be A Girl" offered projects as well as etiquette and dating advice. Here are three different styles to make from felt and old socks.
I think Dritz sells gripper fabric to use for soles if you think felt might be too slick. I have a feeling the felt that you bought at the store in 1947 had a heavier wool component than the felt you buy today.
Shay - Dritz does sell the gripper bottoms and yes, felt back them was thicker and had real wool not acrylic fibers. But some yarn shops sell felted wool pieces that would make very warm bottoms to these slipper socks.
Great way to make costumes - for Halloween or a play.
ReplyDeleteClever idea. I have several pair of socks that would well with this idea.
