Patterns of the Past - What a Difference Two Years Makes

A cape and skirt from Needlecraft, September 1914. The almost-but-not-quite hobble skirt is quite a contrast from last week's 1916 silhouettes.

  1. Huge difference. I also adore looking at the contrast between 1920's patterns and 1930's patterns.

I love the look on the right, I am not big into the early 1900's but that dress is so stunning I would make an exception.

    Lovely post.

  2. Women probably silently revolted against being hobbled like a horse.

  3. I would wear that cape anytime. Very classic.

  5. I agree the cape is very attractive. Those super narrow skirts must have looked horrible on *hippy* people. I can't imagine what I would look like in one.
