Quote Of The Day
She had known, really, that somewhere there had to be such a house. A house that smelled of vanilla and cinnamon and fresh-baked bread. A house with embroidered cushions tied to each carved pine chair and a canary as yellow as butter that sang and sang and sang. She had known too that such a house would have a cat with whiskers like cello strings which jumped on to your knee the moment you sat down... ~ Eva Ibbotson

Second edition but no year given, at least that I can find - I'll take a shot that it's no later than the 20's.

Housekeeping Notes
This was on my template page today:
Following the announcement of Google+ API deprecation scheduled for March 2019, a number of changes will be made to Blogger’s Google+ integration on 4 February 2019.
Google+ widgets: Support for the “+1 Button”, “Google+ Followers” and “Google+ Badge” widgets in Layout will no longer be available. All instances of these widgets will be removed from your blog.
+1 buttons: The +1/G+ buttons and Google+ share links below blog posts and in the navigation bar will be removed.
Please note that if you have a custom template that includes Google+ features, you may need to update your template. Please contact your template supplier for advice.
Google+ Comments: Support for Google+ comments will be turned down, and all blogs using Google+ comments will be reverted back to using Blogger comments. Unfortunately, comments posted as Google+ comments cannot be migrated to Blogger and will no longer appear on your blog.
I guess that means if you notice some comments are gone, too bad?

Vintage Magazines - Action
For the best in lusty adventure, from 1953 (although it looks as though that cover was recycled from the 20's or 30's).

Quote Of The Day
image from the Graphics Fairy
When icicles hang by the wall
And Dick the shepherd blows his nail
And Tom bears logs into the hall
And milk comes frozen home in pail,
When blood is nipp'd and ways be foul,
Then nightly sings the staring owl
Tu-whit;
Tu-who, a merry note,
While greasy Joan doth keel the pot.
EDITED TO ADD: The following was tweeted by one of our local PDs along with a jpeg of a snowman wearing a police uniform. "PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not commit crimes for the next couple of days, the wind chills are -50 degrees!!!" I love living in the Midwest.
