O Tempora, O Mores, O Hell

When the Little Man and I first started volunteering at three local elementary schools, I of course familiarized myself with their fire escape plans.  Because this is the United States of America, I also had to learn each school's protocol for Active Shooter drills.

And, because this is the United States of America in the year of Our Lord 2025, I now have had to learn what to do during an ICE raid.

Quote of the Day

Day hides with closing wings her charms
And all is cradled in repose, save where
Yon band of black, belated crows
Still frets the evening air. ~ Emily Pauline Johnson

Vintage Knitting - a Bedspread Leaf Motif from 1962

A handy small project for pick-up knitting on winter nights.  I'm not up for a bedspread, but this would look nice as an afghan.  Complete instructions are in Workbasket magazine, December 1962, and can be downloaded from the Internet Archive

Other Crafts: Lapel Pins from 1966

The mid-century craze for "novelty" lapel pins included miniature versions of just about everything you could think of - military personnel, flowers, Scottie dogs (very popular) and here from the May, 1966 Workbasket magazine, a pair of doll-sized scuffs (which I think would look better on a doll).

This particular issue is from the Internet Archive and available as a free download
