Vintage Sewing - A Pair of Bunny Slippers Pour Les Petits

From Benes-Addicts' site, a pair of slippers for a small child.  Directions are in French and the diagrams are in metric but  pretty straightforward.

Toymaking - A Child's Tractor from 1923

Only a day late - from the January, 1923 issue of Popular Mechanics, a toy tractor to make out of tin cans and scrap wood, with a rubber-band powered motor that will actually run "15 or 20 feet" over a smooth surface. Two pages of instructions can be downloaded from my Flickr account.

Quote Of The Day

Women who had spent years in secretarial pools made great decoders: when they heard "This section is gibberish because the radio signal faded; can you figure out the rest from context?" they said, "For ten years I took dictation for a mumbler in Accounts Receivable; I can figure out anything from context." ~ Kate Quinn

Vintage robin and rose from the Graphics Fairy.

It is the first mild day of March:
Each minute sweeter than before

Victorian Pastimes - The Girl's Own Toymaker, 1860

A collection of suitably gentle* and domestic crafts for little girls, including doll's clothes, doll's furniture, and knicknacks (I draw your attention particularly to the flycatcher on page 19).  From archive.org, a free download.

*then again, it does exercise one's skill with scissors.
