If not a nice suit (to re-purpose for interviews) then perhaps a nice tasteful cocktail dress? And yes, this generation thinks skinny tank tops and flip flops are dressy. Makes us Costume Designers cry at night.
She wore a suit to interview with me. Does the Governor not rate?
