Other Crafts - a Girl's Necklace from 1910

From Harper's Handy-Book for Girls, free download from archive.org.  Although the instructions call for making your own chain from wire and soldering it together, a much easier version using nine medium sized beads, a statement bead or pendant, and store-bought chain and head pins could easily be fabricated.

Quote of the Day

[Friend's] first choice had been a cabin in the woods, but that's too much nature.  I don't do cabins in the woods because I have seen too many movies about cabins in the woods.  If someone wants to murder me, they are going to have to get past reception. ~ Helen Ellis

Sewing - A Rag Baby from Ruth Wyeth Spears

From Home Decoration with Fabric and Thread, published 1940.  The book, with quite a few attractive projects including a stocking cat that I've posted before, can be borrowed online at the Internet Archive.

The Kids Are All Right

The first grade gave him an end of school present - pet wipes, doggy treats, a ball, and a handmade card with his portrait on it.

(and chocolate for me).

Next Time I'll Rent a Tundra

I have been here one week, so yesterday was my day off and I hit the antique stores.  Brian is damn' lucky the Red Cross only paid for a Kia Sport.

(If you happen to live within reasonable distance of the Davenport, Iowa Habitat Re-Store, this is a solid oak vintage Mission rocker that is only $35 because it needs to be re-upholstered).
