Vintage Sewing - Remodeling a Dress into Toddler's Rompers, 1951

From the Australian Home Journal, October 1951, instructions and a diagram to help you turn the skirt of that "old print frock" into a charming pair of play rompers for your toddler.

The Internet Archive has an almost complete run, issues from 1949-1952. It's download-able, but be warned, the file is pretty big.

I think you could get most or all of a sunhat out of the rest of that dress, too.

Wonderful way to reuse a worn out dress. My grandmother made the 4 girls dresses but kept a 3" square to put in her Cathedral Window quilt.

Bunnykins, you could sew the sunhat from one of these patterns.

Those are adorable hats. I wish kids still wore such cute sunhats. Thanks for the link.

Mum made a couple of dresses for my girls, using those full skirts that were so popular in the 50s and adding a solid color yoke. The girls HATED them, but I never told her that!
