Cats and dogs always want to be on the other side of the door. No matter which side they are on, they want to be on the other side.

And if you have a dog door, they stand with their heads through it, looking at you crossly.

What good is having staff if they refuse to wait on you? We used to have a cat who refused to go into the back room to sue the litter box through the flap. He'd come out with no problem but would just sit there and wail until somebody opened the "big door" for him. One night I had to come downstairs in the middle of the night, and Eddie was just about the go into the back room by himself. He happened to catch sight of me and promptly sat down and stared at me.
