Still Life with Melon by Luis Melendez
It is hard to provide and cook so simple and clean a diet as will not offend the imagination, but this, I think is to be fed when we feed the body; they should both sit down at the same table. ~ Henry David Thoreau

I really do try to fix "pretty" meals, but The Squire doesn't care how the food looks, as long as it is tasty. I really ought to count my blessings.
In one way, I'm lucky as the other half isn't fussy. On the other hand, my cooking skills have suffered over the years due to family with food allergies and health problems that exclude certain foods, to the point that sometimes cooking is like working the geriatric ward. I like a challenge, I like made from scratch, and I like an appreciative audience, not one that pokes things on their plates suspiciously. Give me a house full of hungry kids to cook for, please.
I try for healthy but some times go for pretty instead. Holidays become tricky with various food alleries (soy, gluten), dietary needs (low salt, no sugar) and dislikes (various green veg and 1 sister's hatred of mashed potatoes). Thank goodness for the family Victorian china for 12 with many, many platters and bowls to hold it all.
