Don't Forget The Primaries

I'll be working the polls all day tomorrow.  EDIT/UPDATE 6/28/22, 21:20 HOURS: my feet are killing me.

Thank you for getting up uber early to do this. Mom got all 3 of my sisters to do it, not me.
Instead I have worked for printing companies that did political mailings.

VOTE - local is where the change starts.

"you are my hero sandwich" - oh dear. Does that mean you think I'm full of baloney?

Not full of baloney - full of admiration for your dedication.

Every American high school student should spend at least one election as a poll worker - seriously.

Last time we voted in person one of the workers was a lovely young lady with a hijab and an accent. I was DELIGHTED to see her there!

Maryland's primary is in July, and we've already mailed in our ballots.

The rubber hits the road for any democracy right there - signing up voters one and a time and then working the polls to ensure a fair election.

A surprising number of people don't realize that every election, every polling place has official and observers from all the parties on the ballot. It's a lot of work. When people whine about taking a few minutes to vote in primaries and main elections, I ask them if they want the work of all those people at the polls and in our military to defend democracy should go to waste because they couldn't be bothered.

This work is vital and never more needed than after an attempted coup. Thank you.
