RIP

So Reserve Cat (aka the Ol' Gunfighter, aka the Big Yella Fella) made his last trip to the vet this morning - Brian took him.  He had been very sick for the past ten days with kidney/colon issues and was on a complicated schedule involving five different medications, special food, and an IV every other day.

This morning he was crying, his eyes could not focus, and when he came into the bedroom looking for me he ran/staggered into the  wall.  It was time.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. You gave him great care and a good life. I hope that's a comfort to you.

I'm so sorry. Knowing it was the right time doesn't make it any easier, but it was the right time.

I am so sorry. You have my deepest sympathy on the loss of your baby. I have had to say goodbye to a number of my fur babies and it is true that you do know when it is time. It is the last best gift that you can give them. To let them slip away and not suffer.

Losing a pet is losing a family member. Never gets easier, even when you know it's time.

Love and sympathy to you all.

Damn - I am so sorry to hear this news. We never want to hear the "I'm done" from our animals. You loved him deeply and cared for him tirelessly. Hugs.

I'm sorry he's gone. He always seemed to be an oversized sweetie even if he was getting grumpy in his old age. You did right by him since he spent his time hiding up the stairs from she who ran the house, to the end when he needed your nursing expertise. Lovely picture of him.

I'm so sorry to hear this. It's always so difficult to decide when it is time to say good-bye. "Maybe he'll feel better tomorrow." My vet gave me a good piece of advice when I expressed my doubts about "doing the deed".
It is better to do this one week too soon, than one day too late.

Animals are such sermons in faith. I'm quite sure God has a place for them in Heaven.
