Vintage Advertising - Colgate's Talc Powder


From Woman's Home Companion, April, 1915.  Six months' worth at Google Books.  Wish talcum powder still came in pretty painted cans like this.

Notice the pink bow on the cradle, and the fact that baby is referred to as "him"? Even as late as the 1950s, pink was considered a very "Forward" colour and suited for boys. Light blue was considered more demure and more suitable for little girls.

Yes, I remember reading something in "Modern Priscilla" from the 20's that pink was considered the bolder color.
