Some words have certainly changed their meanings, haven't they?

I know. I've been reading a lot of old pulp magazines recently (God bless the Internet) and this morning as Batdog was dancing and bouncing around the garage I told him not to get gay with me.

When I teach Colonial Life I often point out words that don't mean the same today they did 300 years ago. No lady today would show off her petticoat, but back then it was a skirt. It was nice when a man called his wife his "bellibone", but it came from the French "belle et bonne".
