Sometimes we forget that Memorial Day is NOT just a day for car sales or picnics, but a day to remember, mourn, and give thanks for the lives lost in service to America.

To be fair, American Memorial Day (our Victoria Day) is in a season where the earth is coming back to life and he sun is shining; our Remembrance Day is in mid November, and the major event held in Ottawa where it's usually freezing and overcast, making it easier to be solemn.
Our mothers and grandmothers really did put in an effort. That woman is perfection, along with her scrubbed and pressed son. I have a pattern for her handbag to be made from felt.

Bunnykins - I'd love that purse pattern. And yes, Americans have forgotten Memorial Day is not a 3 day weekend to party in. It is to honor and remember those that served.

San - I'll check my boxes of vintage patterns for that purse and let you know. OK?

Sam - I found two: Dubarry 4703; Simplicity 5915. Both old unmarked patterns; Dubarry without instructions, but simple enough not to need them. They won't scan well. Can I mail them to you?

Yes please - let me know what the postage is.
