As someone in New England, these straight north/south or east/west roads amaze me. Here we have wandering roads because cows don't walk in a straight line. Or there are too many rocks in the way.
Midwesterners have the same problem in New England and the Southeast. Those cow paths drive us nuts.
What a lovely photo! I hear that the main avenue in NYC does the same thing on the equinox.
