And blocks of ice, lol. Like every summer I hide inside in the ac here. The heat and humidity from all the rain have ramped up mold this year. My allergies have gone on full attack mold and I feel miserable.
Was taking care of my mom the last two years and she refused to eat at home, or fed her meal to her cats. Thus we had to eat out a lot (ugh), and as cheaply as possible (worse yet). All of which meant going to places where we could eat our food in the car usually. This was especially as her behavior became somewhat unpredictable. Dementia ain't just a name for a metal band. All of which meant going out in the misery of summer!! I think we had a heat dome last year that would not go away.
And fans in the window? The best thing about living in Washington was not really needing it. We had it on the East side of the mountains for the one or two weeks of miserable summer and when they did the mosquito spraying at night. Wasn't going to sleep with the windows open for that, ugh!
My MIL had a swamp cooler when we got married, but I could stand the heat a little better then. Didn't help when the humidity ran up though. I've seen a lot of creative ways to cool on youtube, too. Ice cream is always the best though.

Same here and no A/C at home. Wiring too old and wallet too skinny. But Ice Cream for dinner is well known in my house.
