August is National Immunization Awareness Month

I have come to the conclusion that there are two kinds of people in this country - those who want you to suffer because they suffered, and those who don't want you to suffer because they suffered.

Then there is the sub-set : Me and what I think is best with no medical training or We- doing my part with vacinations and good manners to help others not get sick.

My mum was born in 1921 and survived diphtheria, whooping cough, and scarlet fever, all without anti-biotics. Get a sore throat? Have an infection? "I survived. You'll survive."

And don't bleed on carpet!

I went through many of the diseases as a kid, and took them home to my brother. My 10+ year younger siblings got their shots! My kids did too, and I've spent the last year getting soooooo many shots. My youngest asked me to get a DPT as she had a preemie I was around, a shot it had never occurred to me to get as I never had those diseases as a child. I did it though and am looking into any other ones I might need. I do not want to catch anything at my age, lol. I've had this year's flu and the covid shots, a tetanus for a dog bite (my fault), and the shingles shot. Also had a battle with my 86 year old mom about the covid shots, at least she got them. She doesn't believe in getting shots or taking pills or even going to the doctor so... We spent two weeks making her take a course of antibiotics for an infected cut, that was fun. She also doesn't believe in soap and water and that's always good for a laugh, not.
