My mother and grandmother did make most of my school clothes. It is interesting that the styles didn't change very much.

Same here - you could even buy the school uniform fabric by the metre and sew them as well (most of mine were sewn)

And isn't it sad that even in the good old days, there don't seem to have been any neat patterns for boys? Drives me nuts... I like to sew for my kid, but it would be nice to not have to totally re-draft the pattern every time I want to do something a bit different. That "jacket with sliders" would be great, actually...
