Knitting -- The Khaki Knitting Book

If this were 1914 we’d be reading about the first week of Ypres.  And, depending on our location, we might be knitting something in scratchy grey or navy or khaki wool.

I love these old knitting books, so thanks very much for the link! Right now, I'm doing charity knitting using some of the old patterns the Seaman's Church put up on Ravelry. Their 1898 hat looks like it's out of the WWI/WWII knitting for the services book. The patterns are simple and not elegant, but they use a lot of garter stitch so the fabric is thick and stretchy.
