I have a British 1920s knitting book for the family(somewhere)with a pattern very similar to this one in it, along with sweaters and knee socks for male golfers. Being a non-golfer, I cannot believe what people spend on golf accessories. No wonder this type of pattern has survived so long. Just don't ask what I've spent on knitting needles.
