Quote of the Day

image from cdn.history.com

The dinosaurs are not all dead,
I saw one raise its iron head
To watch me walking down the road
Beyond our house today.
Its jaws were dripping with a load
Of earth and grass that it had cropped.
It must have heard me where I stopped,
Snorted white steam my way,
And stretched its long neck out to see,
And chewed, and grinned quite amiably. ~ Charles Malam

Very cool imagery! Yup - mechanical monsters all around us.
We refer to the various garbage- and recyclable-collection trucks as "kitty-eating monsters" - they make terrible noises and are impossible to explain to Cat, so that must be what they are!

That looks like the Saskatchewan wheat harvest with a couple of John Deere harvesters going. These days the silos are gone and the wheat goes to train cars instead. Lovely poem.

That is a lovely poem. I've always thought those harvesters resembled brontosauruses. Brontosauri?

I remember reading this in grade school. Do they still make children read poetry?

This is wonderful! I always call construction machines dinosaurs & my whole family does too. The poem captures what I'm thinking when I do.
