Love the hexie Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt pattern. I have become fanscinated with the 1930's prints.

You taught me a new word: cattywampus. Never saw that before. Cool and more polite than the word I learned while working with the guys. I've never seen the grandma's garden set as anything but a round flower shape. Diamonds and arrows? I have a very old transfer on rough kraft type paper with a sport glove pattern, not gauntlets, but still. (bought it for the 20's style swallows pattern.) There's always something to learn from these old patterns, like the buttonhole stitch for snaps. Huh. I've been doing it wrong for longer than I'll admit to. Knit bathing suit - wouldn't that work with new stretch yarns? And, I'm sure I've seen that flowers for every state as a machine embroidery pattern. One little booklet = busy for months. Under the heading of 'what people did before tV.'

I think those old knitted bathing suits were strictly for dry land.

Oh, yes, just sunbathing. Back in the day when I was young and thin, I crocheted a bikini from a Mon Tricot pattern. And, yes, it was just for show, not swimming. More comfortable than you'd think, too.
