not a very good picture but Batdog could not keep still
Arrived home yesterday evening and since then have not been allowed to make one single step unescorted. Not even in the middle of the night, to the bathroom.
Spent the last three weeks being sick, cold and then stomach virus (nothing like sneezing, coughing and barfing at the same time) and have three dogs who fight over my bed and will not let me go to the bathroom alone. They are absolutely fascinated by all of it. They really cannot figure out what is going on. Two of them I've had for years and have never been this sick around them. One is newish and has no clue what is happening. Think I've been sicker this year than in the last ten years. My youngest says it's because I have to be around more people now since retirement means going back to part time work. I'm having more fun than I really deserve.
As long as the pups have the good sense not to trip mum and have you end up in a cast. My boy cat camped out on his lower quadrant of the bed for the first 2 weeks after I came home from having a knee joint replaced. Think I deafened him with the yelling getting in & out of bed until I got the hang of it,but he didn't budge. Nothing like a little critter devotion to ease a person through. Payback is the electric blanket is back in service as we've had cold, damp weather and he expects a warm bed from now to spring.
The longest I've ever been away was one week, and Blazer stuck to me like glue when I got home. He followed The Squire out to the car, looked under it, walked all the way around it, considered getting into it, camped out in front of the bedroom door, refused to eat (You got rid of Momma; you're not going to poison me, too!) and generally broke The Squire's heart.
When the other half goes away, I get him to call home every couple of days to talk to the critters who othewise give me nasty looks and general huffiness.
At least all they are doing is guarding you. When I travel, I can expect revenge peeing on the couches and beds, so I live with sheets of plastic covering them for the duration of my travels and 2 weeks afterwards.Maine Coons have long memories of lost lap time.

Sam, this is why dogs are nicer than cats (but I'm still a cat person).
