From the November, 1955 Workbasket magazine, pretty fair examples of mail-order patterns of the time. I don't care much for the skirt to 9140 but I like that top.

I'd just like to be skinny enough to wear that top.. I have no waist.. never did so it wouldn't work for me.. sure is cute tho.

I'm just the opposite of Pat; I like the skirt, but not the top. As to the dress, it looks too much like my aunts' and grandma's old nurse uniforms.

Yea, but that skirt is designed to not make you look -quite- so hippy with the fullness and make the top lie smooth, since it comes to that hip line.
If I wanted to wear these, I'd certainly make that skirt. My butt's already legendary in size.
I don't know...I'm looking at a horizontal line right at the biggest part of my hip. I'd be veeeerrrrry careful about fabric choices.
