Vintage Crochet - a Glass Jacket from 1961

 

A useful summer project from Workbasket magazine, June 1961.  Knit Cro Sheen is still available at Michael's, and this may save your porch furniture from those unpleasant rings that glasses of iced tea can make. The rest of the magazine is available at the Internet Archive.

Vintage Crafting - A Hot Mat from 1951

 This ... interesting little craft from the February, 1951 issue of Workbasket magazine falls in the category of "we can't do it anymore."  Separate rubber canning rings haven't been a thing for at least forty years, if not longer.  I wonder what you could substitute?

A tatted medallion using a ring of hearts motif, pretty and unusual.  

My notes say this is from Workkbasket magazine, May 1950 - but I can't find it in the online copy.  Hmmm.

Vintage Knitting - a Bedspread Leaf Motif from 1962

 

A handy small project for pick-up knitting on winter nights.  I'm not up for a bedspread, but this would look nice as an afghan.  Complete instructions are in Workbasket magazine, December 1962, and can be downloaded from the Internet Archive.

The mid-century craze for "novelty" lapel pins included miniature versions of just about everything you could think of - military personnel, flowers, Scottie dogs (very popular) and here from the May, 1966 Workbasket magazine, a pair of doll-sized scuffs (which I think would look better on a doll).
