Joy was not entirely unconfined; Reserve Cat kept trying to roll on his back so I could scratch his chin, and Newdog kept dropping the Kong on him.
Accidentally, of course. Newdog appears to have wised up considerably while I was away.
I am so tired that when I ran into a couple of his wife's clients at the Atlanta airport this afternoon, I couldn't remember Brian's youngest brother's name.

Welcome home! We've missed you. Get some rest, and you can catch up with your loyal fan base later.
Glad to see New Dog is giving as good as he's been getting. It'll do Reserve Cat a world of good.
Welcome back! Glad you're home in one piece. Any bets on your having a couple of critters clamped to you for a few days, just to make sure you don't disappear again before they get their missed quota of attention?
Glad to have you back. Glad to know Reserve Cat and NewDog are still living in the same abode. Can't wait to hear your war stories of Texas.
Newdog DUG me out of bed this morning.
Glad you're back safe . . . when Texas does storms, they REALLY do storms. Glad to see the creatures are reaching equilibrium.
