The Quick Brown Dog Jumped Over The Lazy Blue Sofa

Twice, this morning.  Must be something in the water, because I have also had to pull Sheba off the curtain rod where she was chinning herself.

Kittens chin themselves on anything available - curtains, bed sheets, legs, tablecloths. The dog, on the other hand, is another matter entirely. I've never had a puppy do that. Dogs don't hang from the sofa, but cats are easier to housetrain. A trade-off.

Squirt/spray bottle, set on stream can hit a target 10 to 15 feet away if you get a good, strong one. These days, all I have to do is get out the bottle, shake it, and park it beside my chair to get them to stop doing whatever. Vet approved as the only thing that gets hurt is their dignity.
Ah, motherhood. When our tiny kittens used to slide under the doors which someone shortened for wall to wall carpet, we put up a mesh baby gate which they promptly climbed, teetered along the top edge of, or got stuck hanging from. Don't know how well it would work on a big dog, but my puppy used to leave whenever she saw the cats scatter.

Bunny he jumped clear OVER the sofa, not just up on it. I was standing on the other side with a Milk Bone in my hand, and what Chunk wants, Chunk gets.

Maybe you could set up some hurdles in the back yard for Chunk? Ah, to be young and strong and full of that kind of energy! Just glad no one was sitting on the sofa at the time. He does look proud of himself!
Meanwhile, my short legged girl is still practicing jumping (and falling) trying to reach the high spot where my boy hides to get away from her. Whatever little Queenie wants, little Queenie gets, whatever the cost.

Is Chunk thinking about doing Dock Diving and that is why he is long jumping the couch? Or does a small feline or two make a lovely incentive to jump? inquiring minds would LOVE to see a video of this. One can add a drop of lemon juice to said squirt bottle to actively discourage behaviors. Works like a charm.

His second or third day with us, he jumped OFF the porch -- over the railing and seven feet to the ground (see blog header for porch photo).

Fortunately he hurt himself *just enough* -- not badly, a bruised paw -- to convince him that jumping off the porch was a bad idea.

I wonder what he'd do with a small trampoline?

Shut UP.

How's Bat Ears surviving the commotion?

I think put ALL the critters on a large trampoline and film it. Bet you would make some monies.
