We didn't have any butterflies or hummingbirds all summer, but about three weeks ago, we were happy to see a flight of butterflies and two hummingbirds come by. We've been feeding them, but the weather has gotten much cooler in Maryland, so I think everybody has headed south.
Thanks for the beautiful butterflies. They're a reminder that not everything in the world is as ugly as the daily news.
I have a Victorian/Edwardian how to embroider book with coloured plates that show how colours of embroider silk(!) should be blended when embroidering butterflies and the flowers that attract them. What luxury to have the time and materials to embroider butterflies.
Many, many years ago I had a black silk satin Chinese coat that was covered with embroidered butterflies. I have no idea what happened to it.
