ooh, he has some good ones on politicians. "to me, Judas Iscariot was nothing but a low, mean, premature Congressman". Congress was the only "distinctive native, American criminal class". "Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But, I repeat myself."
Off topic: Something to add, perhaps, to your collection of sites with odd old books. The British Library has just put up their collection of old, some very old, children's books. There's an original copy of the Alice in Wonderland manuscript, various exhortations from preachers, a 2,000 year old wax tablet belonging to a Greek child practicing his letters, and more. Apparently unicorns were on the illustrated list of animals in existence in the 1700s.
Here's the site if you're interested: https://www.bl.uk/childrens-books/collection-items
Oh, Bunny, I love the "Manticora"! And that "Rhinocerot" has mighty fancy armor, doesn't it? I think, when I am involved in some fruitless endeavor, I shall tell people I'm looking for a manticora.

Lady Anne - Perhaps you'd best read those preachers' lessons for naughty children. ;)
