Oh this makes so much sense! Step-dad had a Shop Cat who was listed as "pest control equipment" - wrote off the food and vet bills that way. She made sure the water rats stayed outside and the mice never got in the office.
What, do you live in Oklahoma? They would have this tax if they thought they could get away with it! I got a form for personal tax on possesions one year, way back when. Being frankly poor with four kids I just about died laughing at it. They wanted the value of our TV, furniture etc. Maybe it was a joke but it was in "poor" taste, though I did laugh at it.
At least they didn't have a pet tax as we had several dogs, too. Those were the days, lol. Fantastic guard dog (big red Doberman who was a lovey baby), scruffy little terrier who was death on mice or rats, and a frankly neurotic Lab, that dog, smh.
I will say the governor has come to his senses somewhat and is pushing for removal of taxes on groceries.
