Vintage Paper Crafts-Crepe Paper Costumes

The last of the selections I'm going to post from an undated 1950's booklet, Paper Arts and Crafts for Teachers and Group Leaders, published by the Dennison Crepe Paper Company. Left-click to enlarge, or go to my Flickr account to download.

Four pages of general instructions for working with crepe paper are here.

I was looking at these costumes and hoping that the people who made them had enough sense to keep the children wearing the costumes away from water. Have you ever been on a float or in a parade where there is crepe paper and water (such as rain or water balloons or squirt guns)? Not pretty. LOL

My first thought was of fire. Crepe paper and a candle - not a good mix.

I love these, but knowing what my 3 year old son is like I should imagine that they lasted about 2 minutes!

I'm afraid I had the fire thought myself; I'd prefer to try to copy these in something less flammable!
