Wonderful picture. WWI or WWII?
I can't count the stars on the American flag. The British ensign is the flag Canada fought under in both wars, but should have the Canadian shield on it to be complete - unless it's the flag for another Commonwealth country.

I have an embroidery pattern tucked away from WWI showing the Allies' flags, including the Russians before the revolution when Russia withdrew from the war, as well as a lovely cushion pattern on linen that says "Peace" which someone who didn't want to do it butchered. (Not all our grandmothers liked needlework regardless of what revisionist history says.)

There was an American servicewoman at the televised service in Ottawa this year with an army dog (beautiful black (looked like a very big Lab to me) that was being retired to a good home due to combat stress.
