Crochet - A Window Shade Pull From 1951

From the February, 1951 Workbasket magazine. I'm not sure how many people use window shade pulls anymore, but it's a cute motif. On my Flickr account.

Really cute! I could actually probably use something like this in my home.

We had them on every window until Finnigan Minnigan the Bad Monkey Cat (aka Interior Decorater Supreme) decided they were passe and a good cat toy. Too bad he thought ripping them off the vinyl shades was also a good idea...

A person can also use them for light pulls on ceiling lights or fans. Cats have a hard time reaching those. I have window shades in my house. They are 30 years old and holding up vey well. Because of the cats, the pulls are very utilitarian.

You're always good for a reality check! Every time I see you post something from the 50's, I think it's not very old as I remember the 50's well...and then it dawns on me...yeah...50 years ago! That's a half century ago!

I give a brief orientation to nursing students who come thru as part of their public health orientation. Hell, they don't even remember the 80's!

I remember these!

Ya, about the time/age thing. I mentioned something to my 24-year-old daughter the other day, and got "MOMMMMM, I wasn't even born yet. How do you expect me to remember that?" I. am. not. getting. to. be. like. my. grandparents. No. (Yes, I am. sigh.)

Love it! Makes me want roller shades again. Can't stand the blinds I've got.
