Risky Business

Thing One volunteered to be the bad guy for one of the local hospitals’ infant abduction drill. It is a no-notice drill. I wonder if he bruises easily – I personally would not want to face down a ward full of angry RN’s who thought I was trying to walk off with a baby.

Are the nurses cute? Could that be the reason for his insanity?

Good heavens, maybe you should have him fill out a suicide prevention questionaire first

Yikes. Hope nobody shoots him.

He's still alive -- but he didn't even make it as far as the door before two RNs were on his tail.

So glad to know he is okay and that the staff was alert. At our local hospital, there are times when one could run through the whole building naked and there would be no one to notice. Scary.

It was a highly successful drill and we got lots of good feedback about his performance from the hospital emergency coordinator. He's a great kid (okay, he's 22, he's not a kid, technically). And I'm losing him on 1 August WAAAAH!!!

I was a little concerned for his safety since it was an unnanounced drill and he is very Middle-Eastern looking (his parents emigrated from India but he's very tall, over six foot, and has the most amazing head of curly hair). I guess I worry too much.

No, you don't worry too much. Prejudice is still too alive and well. My daughter has several friends from different countries. Of the ones I've met, I have to say that the ones from India are my favorites - so polite and respectful but easy to visit with. And, yes, I think of anyone younger than about 40 as a kid. (I used to hate it when my parents and grandparents said that!) Sorry you are losing Thing One. I hope that you can keep in touch. It isn't often that you get such good employees and get to be fond of them, too.
