From McCall's Needlework and Crafts, Summer 1950. Love the pink roses.

Love these. My MIL still embroiders such lovely pillow cases and runners. I have some older ones, too, that my grandmothers and elderly aunts made. I wish I had a place to display some of the items.

Embroidering is something I'm completely inept at. I've seen 6-year-olds do a better job. Not kidding. lol

I still have one (only one!) of the pillowcases that my MIL embroidered, the rest are in shreds.

Amazingly enough, I have six or seven sets of pillowcase laces, knitted, crocheted or tatted. They have lasted much longer than the pillowcases did.

I think it is a shame that we, this generation, have not decorated our own pillowcases. I mean, really. It is a very green and crafty thing to do.

Speak for yourself, wench! My pillows are tastefully decorated in three adorable shades of cat hair!
