Tatting - a 1949 Doily


At the request of Here-Be-Tatters' Diane, a doily from the Star Book #66, published in 1949. Instructions for four sizes are on my Flickr account.

Dover republished the pattern in _Traditional Tatting Patterns_, edited by Rita Weiss. It's called Party-Time Doilies in that book. I tried making it once, but my skill weren't up to it yet. I think the little 4-ring bits could more easily be done with split rings, but I haven't sat down and figured it out.

I just love tatting! It's such gorgeous stuff! I wish my elbow would let me do it.
