I'd like to thank the Academy...

Last week I entered a haiku contest at Erin's wonderful site, A Dress A Day. The subject was pockets. Perhaps not surprisingly, I wrote about cats.

Pocket—something there?
Feel doe-soft ears and paw pads;
Kitten stowaway!

And I won. A copy of Singer Perfect Plus from Erin and a coupon from Jen at MOMSPatterns.

(I wonder if I have to share it with them).

Considering I never won so much as an essay contest when I was in school....can you tell I'm pretty chuffed?

Way to go! :)

One should never share an award with one's muses. Makes the muses assume far more than they already do that, as a cat owner, is a vast empire of asuumptions. Starting with any plant in the house....

It's too late!

Congratulations! I loved the haiku, it's very true! The cat's probably think it is just their due that you share it with them, the subjects about which you wrote and subsuquently won.

I just wanted to tell you that I saw your Haiku on A Dress A Day back in 2009, and it has stuck with me ever since. It makes me smile every time I think of it, and I have shared it with many people "there was a lady who wrote a brilliant haiku for a competition on a blog I read, and it's my favourite haiku of all time" and it has never failed to raise a smile from them either. Thank you :)

Thank you. I wish I could lay claim to more but poetry does not appear to be my forte :-(
