Saving Me From Myself

Up to Michigan and back for a short visit with my father (and assorted siblings). The weather cooperated and a good time was had by most.

And the difference between Illinois and Michigan gun purchase laws prevented me from dropping $300 on a M1895 Mauser at the Gander Mountain store in Portage.

Glad you've had a good time, hope your cats and dogs behaved while you were away *grin*

Everyone knows how volatile you Illinoisians* can be. I always suspected something under that Midwestern Nice.

*Okay, I looked up what to call people from Illinois.

As I said to the Director of Emergency Response at our ARC chapter meeting last night, "What possible use do I have for a 1895 Mauser?"

He looked at me over his glasses and remarked "I'm sure you'll think of someone."

If the gun you wanted to buy looked like the picture in the link, I'd drop $300 on it (if I had $300 for "fun"!).

It was beautiful...just a great example of 19th century German weaponry.
